Beautification Efforts

The City, together with its Urban Forestry Commission, was awarded a U.S. Forest Service/Illinois Department of Natural Resources tree planting grant in the amount of $25,000. These funds will be matched by the City and fund approximately 130 new trees. The trees will be planted in the northeast quadrant of the City over the next two years.

Exterior Home Programs

Temporary Closure of Madison & Jefferson

Moving forward with the efforts to consolidate railroad traffic from the 3rd Street track to 10th Street, both Madison and Jefferson will be closed between 9th and 11th Street beginning April 5. The closure is to construct new underpasses at these locations. The closure will last until the summer of 2024. We will continue to communicate with businesses about these closures.
